Caption reads "Do not hit the brakes.". Not kidding.
Read the caption... Look at the image. Think about it...

You'd be surprised how many people don't know this advice, especially if they lived in areas without lots of ice.

why not?
i've no experience with black ice , doesn't happen around where i live.

But if it was a correct image, is that still true? I've never driven in snow or ice.

You generally shouldn't hit the brakes because it could cause your car to rapidly yaw. Although, with ABS this is generally not a problem anymore.
![]() 02/06/2015 at 21:27 |

exactly, it said don't hit the brakes, so he tried the clutch.
![]() 02/06/2015 at 21:28 |

Yes, you lose any ability to steer once you hit the brakes.

Clutch kick! Epic drift, bra!

What a stupid person. I take it, it was done by an automatic driver but I also assume they would still pick the wrong pedal on an automatic too.
Ironically (to the picture anyway) you may want to press the clutch if your wheels have lost traction to get them freewheeling to find traction before easing off the clutch and bring the car under your control again.
What they should be teaching is how to use your gears and engine braking rather than the brake pedal (also should highlight the correct pedal) and steering into the skid

Yeah, I just think it's funny they've clearly never seen a third pedal.
![]() 02/06/2015 at 21:40 |

Alright, I'll just double clutch then. ;)

I've never driven an auto and never have any plans to. These people should never be put into a manual car, ever.

And now which genius came up with that?
![]() 02/06/2015 at 22:00 |

No wucking forries, qualifying just finished for the main race. Improved production car about to start, they are based on street cars but with BIGGER motors! Been awesome coverage.

![]() 02/07/2015 at 15:07 |

Yeah, you should absolutely hit the brakes if your car is equipped with abs and stability control.

In a front drive car if your sliding gently turn the wheel where you want to go, and you hope you will regain traction before hitting an object.
